That's a lot of flak!

That’s a lot of flak!

Mind – The Cake song “Shadow Stabbing” is sometimes how I feel in the Pentagon.
“Adjectives on the typewriter
He moves his words like a prize-fighter
The frenzied pace of the mind inside the cell
Outside, outside the world
Out there you don’t hear the echoes and calls
But the steel I,
Type jaw
Say it all
Say it all”
Needless to say, sequester has put the Pentagon into frenzied planning mode.
It’s here and it’s now. Billion dollar decisions are getting churned on late into the evenings. How is DoD going to survive? Because that’s what we do, figure it out, overcome, deal with adversity and get the job done.
If ever I get a little upset about how things might be going in the Pentagon, I start thinking about the men at Omaha beach, Guadalcanal, and the skies over Europe before air superiority was established. Then I get back to work.

Serves – 4
Prep time – 36 minutes active, 36 minutes total
Nutrition – 277 calories, 13 grams protein, 8 grams fat, 35 grams carbs
4 medium plum tomatoes, diced
1/4 cup chopped red onion
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 can (15 ounces) low-sodium red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 tablespoon chopped chipotle chiles in adobo
4 fat-free 8-inch flour (or whole-wheat) tortillas
1 avocado, thinly sliced
4 cups baby spinach
1 cup reduced-fat shredded chedda
In a bowl, combine tomatoes, onion, cilantro, juice, cumin and salt. In a second bowl, mash beans; stir in chipotle. Working one at a time, top half of each tortilla with 1/4 avocado slices, 1/4 bean mixture, 1 cup spinach and 4 tablespoons cheese; fold in half. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat; add 1 quesadilla and cook, flipping once, until both sides are brown and crispy, 1 to 2 minutes per side. Repeat with remaining quesadillas. Let cool slightly; cut each quesadilla into 3 wedges; serve with tomato salsa.
Spirit – The Love of God – Attributes of God by A.W. Pink
“It is infinite. Everything about God is infinite. His essence fills heaven and earth. His wisdom is illimitable, for He knows everything of the past, present and future. His power is unbounded, for there is nothing too hard for Him. So His love is without limit. There is a depth to it which none can fathom; there is a height to it which none can scale; there is a length and breadth to it which defies measurement, by any creature-standard. Beautifully is this intimated in Ephesians 2:4: But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us: the word “great” there is parallel with the “God so loved” of John 3:16. It tells us that the love of God is so transcendent it cannot be estimated.
No tongue can fully express the infinitude of God’s love, or any mind comprehend it: it “passeth knowledge” Eph. 3:19). The most extensive ideas that a finite mind can frame about Divine love, are infinitely below its true nature.”
I really love this passage because I try to think of how much I love my kids, and then try to multiply that by infinity…I can’t comprehend it.
